1. when the hydro turbine is installed on the downstream water level above a micro hydro turbine runner, a static vacuum will be formed by the draft tube of your hydro turbine, so you can take the tail water head between the runner and downstream water level as part your design water head, without a suitable hydro turbine draft tube, you will lose some water head of your micro hydropower turbine system.
2. a dynamic vacuum will be formed from the turbine runner outlet by the draft tube of your hydraulic turbine, so you can use part of the runner outlet flow kinetic energy, without a suitable micro hydro turbine draft tube, this kinetic energy will be lost.
3. Draft tube can guide the water flow to downstream of your micro hydropower system.
