Dam and sluice gate of microhydro

The construction of micro hydropower station- Dam and sluice gate

Micro hydraulic structures of hydropower station are generally consists of the following parts: dam (also called weir), sluice gate, channel, pressure forebay, water pressure pipe, powerhouse and discharge canals (draft tube).

Dam of micro hydropower station (weir): dam a hydraulic structure which is used for raising water head and form the water pressure and then flow into the channel or pressure pipe, which is generally built in the upstream, to make full use of the water drop, built to lower the dam can reduce the engineering cost, is more advantageous.

Sluice gate of micro hydropower station: the role of the sluice gate is the first part of channel to control the water access to the channel and forebay, and it also be the function of stopping the water when overhauling the channels or forebay (pressure water pool).
